Back in October, Catherine Zack and I started recording a podcast series called Finding 40. Two women/mommas, both 39, on the brink of 40, talking about everything from beauty and desire to marriage, parenting and work as we barrel towards our next decade.
Admittedly, I didn’t think we’d get to the production so soon.
In a random voice note in September, I happened to say “Hey we should do this thing one day (i.e. the podcast),” fully expecting that’d be much later into 2025. I was a few weeks away from giving birth and Catherine was knee deep in running her brick and mortar biz (among being a mom, wife, writer, etc.)
But then we were both like:
Wait, this sounds so fun.
What if we just let it be easy?
I’ve been thinking a lot about fun these days. More specifically, when a feeling of “Oooh that sounds fun,” crops up around a work project.
Starting in August of this year, I found myself facing some stirring questions of “What do I want to do with my work?” The inquiry is ongoing, but I’ve found that the more joy there is to be found, the more ease. The more ease, the more willing I am to commit to the endeavor, despite how limited my time is these days (or frankly, my newfound level of exhaustion).
The question I’m still grappling with, though, is: Does that deliver the money we need?
It’s an ongoing inquiry. Feel free to chime in on that in the comments. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these episodes! As I said, we are having SO much fun.
xx Clara
